On 15th of April 2023, fighting broke out in Sudan with intensity in Khartoum and other cities in Al Obeid -North Kordofan, Ag Geneina -West Darfur, and Al Fasher – North Darfur. The war is led by two principals the Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Sudan’s army commander in chief (SAF) Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Leader of the Rapid Support Forces (SAF) Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
As reported by UN OCHA on the 6th of May, at least 550 people have been killed and over 4,900 injured since the fighting began, according to the Federal Ministry of Health (MoH) as of 1 May.
